    In a historic week at the WTT Europe Smash held in Malmö, Sweden, the European table tennis community witnessed a groundbreaking achievement. On August 25, 2025, Truls Möregårdh became the first European ever to clinch a Grand Smash title, defeating world number one Lin Shidong in a pulsating final that ended 4–3. The match featured a spectacular comeback and showcased Möregårdh’s resilience on home soil, where the crowd’s chants of “Moregardh, Moregardh” echoed throughout the Malmö Arena.

    This victory crowns a remarkable trajectory that includes a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics and a World Championship runner-up in 2021.
