    Asia Cup Cricket History:The Asia Cup was first played in the year 1984 in Sharjah between three teams—India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. India, led by Sunil Gavaskar, won the tournament.

    Until 2014, the Asia Cup was played only in the ODI format. However, with the T20 World Cup being a consistent fixture in the calendar, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) decided to play the Asia Cup in T20 format in 2016, and since then, multiple T20 Asia Cups have been played, along with the ODI format.

    The giants of Asian cricket have glorified the Asia Cup tournament with stellar shows in both the batting and bowling departments.

    Who has scored the most runs in Asia Cup Cricket History?

    Former Sri Lanka batsman Sanath Jayasuriya holds the record for the most runs in Asia Cup history. The Sri Lankan opener scored 1220 runs in 24 innings at an average of 53 with six centuries.

    Who has taken the most wickets in Asia Cup history?

    Former Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga took 33 wickets in the Asia Cup, the most by any bowler in this continental tournament. Malinga took those 33 scalps in only 15 matches at an average of 18.

    Who has hit the most centuries in Asia Cup history?

    With six centuries, Sanath Jayasuriya has the record for most hundreds in the Asia Cup history. India’s Virat Kohli is second with five centuries.

    Who has taken the most five-wicket hauls in Asia Cup history?

    With three five-wicket hauls, Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga has the most five-fors in the Asia Cup.

    Who has made the highest individual score in the Asia Cup?

    India’s Virat Kohli holds the record for the highest individual score in the Asia Cup history for his epic knock of 183 runs against Pakistan in 2012 in Mirpur.

    Who has the best bowling figures in Asia Cup history?

    Former Sri Lankan mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis holds the record for the best bowling figures by a bowler in an innings in the Asia Cup for his 6/13 against India in the 2008 Asia Cup final in Karachi.

    Who has won the Asia Cup the most times?

    India have won the Asia Cup trophy the highest number of times—8. Sri Lanka have won six Asia Cup titles, and Pakistan twice.
