WWE is colliding with arcade nostalgia in a big way—Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes are officially part of the new live-action Street Fighter movie, and fans just got their first look.
During The Game Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the cast of the upcoming Street Fighter film hit the stage to unveil the projectâ€s debut teaser. The movie, produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Paramount, is currently in production and will hit theaters on October 16, 2026.
Among the cast revealed: Roman Reigns plays Akuma, and Cody Rhodes takes on the role of Guile. While Reigns was present during the live teaser reveal, Cody was absent but still featured prominently in the promo as one of the top billed characters. The full cast is loaded with familiar names from across Hollywood, pro wrestling, and MMA:

The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai and is being shot for IMAX with the intent to honor the “quarter-pumping, button-mashing spirit†of the original game series while “leveling up for a new generation.†Hereâ€s how Paramount described the plot in their official release:
“Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu and Ken are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past.â€
This will be the first movie released under Legendaryâ€s new global distribution deal with Paramount and aims to reset the franchise after the cult-followed but critically mixed 1994 Street Fighter film and 2009â€s The Legend of Chun-Li.
Roman Reigns also took to social media to hype the project shortly after the reveal, teasing his role as the devastating Akuma with an image and the caption: “Embrace the darkness. Akuma is coming.â€
With crossover star power, a stacked cast, and one of gamingâ€s most iconic brands behind it, all eyes will be on how this version lands with fans.
