BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The road to the Patriot League Championship begins on Tuesday evening for No. 6 Lehigh volleyball on the road against No. 3 Army West Point. The first-round matchup between the Mountain Hawks and Black Knights will begin at 6 p.m.

Lehigh (12-13, 6-10 PL) and Army (17-8, 11-5 PL) split the regular season series 1-1, with the Black Knights winning 3-1 in West Point on September 26 and the Mountain Hawks winning 3-0 on November 7 at Grace Hall. The Mountain Hawks are making their second consecutive trip to the postseason after advancing to the Patriot League Semifinals as the six seed a year ago.

The Mountain Hawks punched their ticket to the postseason on November 8 at home after sweeping both Holy Cross and Army on back-to-back days. Senior Natalie Luscomb leads Lehigh with 244 kills while junior Ufuoma Omene (225 kills) and first-year Mary Massias (201 kills) have also been focal points of the offense. Senior Madison McCartney has been holding down the middle for the Mountain Hawks all season long, leading the league in blocks per set (1.30) while ranking third in total blocks (114). Sophomore libero Sophia Bond ranks second in the league with 40 service aces while junior Abby Felkai’s 521 assists are fifth in the Patriot League.

The Black Knights enter the tournament as the three seed. They are led offensively by Chloe Murakami and Mackenzie Lynch, both of whom have tallied over 300 kills on the season. Naomi Chinchar and Juliette Myrick have split setting duties, recording 503 and 502 assists respectively. The Black Knights are balanced defensively, having five players record 200 or more digs. Lynch leads the team in total blocks with 58.

Tuesday’s match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
