CM Punk is a world champion again in WWE.
The last time CM Punk was a world champion was over three months ago when he beat Gunther at SummerSlam Night 1 to become the World Heavyweight Champion. However, that victory only lasted 5 minutes and 10 seconds as the 2025 Money in the Bank winner Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins cashed in the contract to win the title.
Now, before that, it was over a decade ago that Punk had championship gold around his waist, before he left the company in 2014. This makes Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI even more special as Punk won the vacant World Heavyweight Championship by beating Jey Uso in a singles match in Salt Lake City, Utah. Rollins was the champion but had to relinquish the title due to a shoulder injury sustained at Crown Jewel against Cody Rhodes. Punk beat Uso and LA Knight in a number one contenders’ Triple Threat match, and Uso won a 20-man battle royal to enter the championship match on November 1.
The match saw dominance from Punk initially, who delivered multiple heavy blows to Uso. The Bloodline member, however, bounced back and delivered multiple super-kicks and frog splashes on Punk to gain momentum, leading to multiple near falls. Near the decisive moments of the match, both wrestlers looked tired by the match but Punk gathered a last bit of strength, which made him the champion in August. He delivered two GTS on Uso, went for the pin, and became world champion for the seventh time in WWE.
One thing that should be noted following Punk’s win is Rollins’ vow. The Visionary vowed that as long as there is air in his lungs, he won’t let Punk become a world champion ever. He stuck to his words at SummerSlam as he took the belt from Punk and then defended it successfully at Clash in Paris. Now that Punk is a champion in Rollins’ absence, it raises many questions.
Not Everyone is Happy to See CM Punk Win
The majority of the people are celebrating Punk’s win, who was not even supposed to be in the company a couple of years ago. But a few others are pointing out that the reason why the Best in the World has a title around his waist is that Rollins is out of action. One fan wrote, “Now the REAL title reign can begin, until Seth Rollins comes back,” conveying the same idea.

Another fan celebrated Punk’s win, but added that he should lose to LA Knight next week, who is another worthy contender for the World Championship. “Good, Iâ€m happy for him! 🎊 I hope he loses to LA Knight next week…” they wrote.
