Drew McIntyre broke character while interacting with a fan dealing with terminal illness.
The Scottish Warrior is known as a tough fighter in WWE. When he steps on SmackDown, he’s hard-hitting and intense, and his opponents know he’s dangerous. But recently, he showed something different that caught people’s attention and reminded them why fans connect with wrestlers beyond just the matches they watch on TV.
Drew McIntyre’s Kind Act Gains Respect on Social Media
On October 26, a wrestling fan posted something personal on X/Twitter after they came home from the hospital with bad news – terminal brain cancer. Radiotherapy was going to start in November, though doctors were still waiting on more test results to see exactly what they were dealing with. Despite the heavy situation, the fan wasn’t giving up. He ended his post with a Bible verse about faith and keeping strong, saying he’d keep filling people’s feeds for as long as he could; check their post here.
McIntyre saw the post and replied to the fan, not a quick ‘stay strong’ comment that you see all the time on social media. He actually thought about what he wanted to say and chose his words carefully. He used a Rocky Balboa quote – one of the best fighter quotes ever made – and wrote:
Remember, It’s not about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward.
Keep fighting & moving forward mate, I want you here for when Rangers get back on top (even if Iâ€ve got to manage them myself)”

The last part made people smile. The joke about managing Rangers was funny, sure, but it meant way more than that. McIntyre was saying the fan mattered to him, wanting to see him stick around for the good times ahead. It sounded like something a real friend would say, not something written by some PR team following a script.
