MINNEAPOLIS – Marley Mitchell (SO, Nevis, Minn./Nevis HS) tied a career-high with 14 kills, leading the Augsburg University volleyball team in a four-set Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss to the College of Saint Benedict on Wednesday evening at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The match was a tight one throughout, with 22 ties and 10 lead changes. Saint Benedict hit .160 (47 kills, 22 errors on 156 attack attempts), compared to .090 for Augsburg (46 kills, 32 errors, 155 attacks). The Bennies also converted 10 team blocks to the Auggies’ four, and had eight service aces to the Auggies’ five.
• Mitchell tied a career-high, set earlier this season, with her 14-kill performance, adding three digs and a block assist.
• Taliah Triggs (SO, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) had 13 kills — her 11th double-figure kill effort of the season and fifth in her last seven matches — with 14 digs, her fourth double-double of the year.
• Jovial King (SO, Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) claimed her 10th assist-dig double-double of the season and 15th of her career, with 39 assists and 15 digs, adding five kills and two block assists.Â
• In the middle, Gwynn Gorter (SO, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) recorded nine kills, hitting .571, with three block assists.
• Maggie Lile (JR, Spring Grove, Minn./Spring Grove HS) had 20 digs, while Elise Uphoff (JR, Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS) had 13 digs. Lola Pilon (JR, Farmington, Minn./Mounds Park Academy HS) had 12 digs with three service aces.
FOR THE FOES
• Kali Jones led Saint Benedict with 16 kills, 11 digs and four block assists.
• Izzy Torve had 23 assists, 15 digs and three service aces.
