LOS ANGELES — Cal State LA’s women’s volleyball team bounced back strongly from its first California Collegiate Athletic Association loss on Friday with an impressive win on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles started quickly and never looked back in a 25-17, 25-14, 25-13 win over San Francisco State in University Gym on Saturday. Cal State LA (13-4, 9-1 CCAA) began the second half of conference play with one of its best performances of the season.

The Golden Eagles hit .326 as a team and had a 39-22 kills advantage over the three sets.

The Golden Eagles held a slim 17-16 lead in the opening set before a four-point run gave them some breathing room. Cal State LA closed out the set with a 4-0 run on a service error, a kill by Cetin, an attack error and a block by Sunday and Madison Clark.

Cal State LA scored three straight points to take an 11-8 lead in the second set and led the rest of the way. A kill by DaCoud followed by a solo block by DaCoud and a block from Sunday and Rachel Lowe opened up a 17-11 advantage and an ace by Rebeca Marquez was part of a 5-0 run that got the Golden Eagles to set point at 24-13. An attack error ultimately ended the set.

Cal State LA started quickly in the third set to put the match away. Cal State LA led early 5-1 before a 6-0 run capped by an ace by DaCoud opened up a 14-4 lead. A kill by Rebecca Topete and a block by Topete and Rachel Lowe kept the lead at 19-10 and a kill by Tehya Chadwick, an ace by Chase, a kill by Lowe and a kill by Chadwick pushed the lead to 23-12.
