On October 12, the India W vs Australia W match in the 2025 ODI Womenâ€s World Cup took place at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The Australian Womenâ€s team won the toss and decided to bowl. This decision was highly anticipated, as the chasing team would generally have a slight advantage in this match due to the dew factor. India started this match with a massive 155-run partnership between their openers, Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal. They lost their first wickets in the 25th over.

The highest run scorers from Team India were Smriti Mandhana, who scored 80 runs, Pratika Rawal, who scored 75 runs, and Harleen Deol, who scored 38 runs. However, after that, their middle order couldn’t find a stable partnership and they kept losing wicket after wickets. Annabel Sutherland took 5 wickets in her 9.5 overs for just 40 runs, and with that, the Indian Womenâ€s team was able to score 330 runs in 48.5 overs for 10 wickets.Â

While chasing, the Australian Womenâ€s team also started their innings with a solid opening partnership of 85 runs between Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield. They lost their first wicket in the 12th over, after Ellyse Perry came out and also developed a small partnership with the captain, Alyssa Healy. During the early middle overs, Perry was retired injured due to a calf injury; however, at the end of the match, she came back on the field to resume her innings.

Alyssa Healy was the key figure in this entire chase from the Australian team. She scored 142 runs in just 107 balls, and during her innings, Healy delivered 21 fours and 3 sixes. The Australian Womenâ€s team easily chased the total of 330 in the 49th, and the winning shot came from Ellyse Perry, who scored a six on the last ball of the 49th over. With this win, the Australian Womenâ€s team made history by chasing the highest total ever chased in a Womenâ€s One Day International match. The Player of the Match award was given to Alyssa Healy for her brilliant performance in this run chase.

India W vs Australia W 2025 ODI Womenâ€s World Cup: Can India still qualify for the Semi-finals

Despite losing back-to-back matches against the South African and the Australian Womenâ€s teams, the  Indian Womenâ€s team still has a very high chance of qualifying for the semi-finals in the 2025 ODI Womenâ€s World Cup. India currently has 4 points on the table, and if they can win all of their remaining group stage matches, they can move up to 10 points, which is enough for them to qualify for the semi-finals. India has 3 matches left in the group stage, and if they lose one of their remaining matches, their qualification hopes will then entirely lie on their net run rate. For their next match, the Indian Womenâ€s team will face the England Womenâ€s team on October 19, 2025.
