It’s that time of year again — the time to honor the cream of the crop in Minor League Baseball.
The MiLB Awards Show will return for a third season on MLB Network. Hosted by Xavier Scruggs and MLB Network Emmy Award-winning host and play-by-play announcer Matt Vasgersian, the program will highlight all things MiLB, from top prospect performances, to the most electrifying debuts and the zaniest alternate identities.
Here are the categories that will be awarded:
Won by the Red Sox’s Kristian Campbell in ’24 and the Orioles†Jackson Holliday in ‘23, this award takes into account production, age and level when identifying the prospect that had the best year at the plate. And once again, it will go to an infielder. Griffin put together a historic 20/60 season — only the second in the Minors since 1958 — as he rose from Single-A to Double-A in his debut season. After missing seven weeks with a right ankle sprain, McGonigle made the most of his season, batting .305/.408/.583 with more walks (59) than strikeouts (46). Wetherholt, meanwhile, showed why he was considered the most advanced hitter in the 2024 Draft (where the Cardinals drafted him seventh overall) as he posted a 152 wRC+ across the Minors’ two highest levels while displaying defensive versatility. Minor League Pitching Prospect of the Year:
Finalists:
Griffin Herring, LHP, Rockies (No. 9)
Jonah Tong, RHP, Mets (No. 4/MLB No. 43)
Trey Yesavage, RHP, Blue Jays (No. 1/MLB No. 25)
Just like the previous category, the Pitching Prospect of the Year takes into account age and level — this time identifying someone who has been dominant on the mound. Herring made quick work of A-ball affiliates of the Yankees and Rockies, thanks to a sweeping mid-80s slider, as he struck out 149 batters with a 1.89 ERA across 119 1/3 innings. Tong rode his rising fastball and improved changeup to 179 strikeouts and a 1.43 ERA across Double-A and Triple-A — both figures that led all Minor Leaguers (min. 110 IP). Yesavage, the 20th overall pick in 2024, played in all four full-season levels before making his MLB debut in September, racking up 160 K’s to just 41 walks with a 3.12 ERA in 98 frames. More »
All-MiLB Prospect Team: This category tabs the best prospects at each position in 2025, splitting the players into a First Team and Second Team. Last seasonâ€s First Team featured seven players who have played in The Show this season.
Minor League Debut of the Year:
Finalists:
Konnor Griffin, SS/OF, Pirates (No. 1/MLB No. 1) — WINNER
Griffin Herring, LHP, Rockies (No. 9)
Trey Yesavage, RHP, Blue Jays (No. 1/MLB No. 25)
Arias was considered one of the best defenders in the 2023 international class and has lived up to that scouting report across three levels this season, with outstanding range and a strong arm. Honeycutt was one of the toolsiest players in the 2024 Draft (where he went 22nd overall) and uses his well-above-average speed and strong arm effectively in center field. And then Jones has been doing his best to live up to the reputation of his 10-time Gold Glove father Andruw, combining excellent instincts with plus-plus speed to stake a claim as one of the best center fielders in the Minors.
Best New Alternate Identity
Finalists:
Asheville Snot Otters (Astros)
Barkansas Dizzys (Mariners)
Binghamton Bathtub Donkeys (Mets)
Erie Moon Mammoths (Tigers)
Jacksonville Honey Drippers (Marlins)
New Hampshire Space Potatoes (Blue Jays)
Wisconsin Frozen Pizzas (Brewers)
In 2023, the Amarillo Calf Fries sacked the competition. In 2024, the Jersey Diners were the most popular item on the menu. Now itâ€s once again time to ask: What Minor League team debuted the best alternate identity of the season? The winner will be determined by a fan vote.
