SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Augsburg University volleyball team split a pair of matches at the University of Wisconsin-Superior Subway Stinger Classic on Friday evening, sweeping Knox College in its opener and falling in four sets to the host Yellowjackets.

AUGSBURG 3, KNOX 0
• Augsburg dominated in the match, hitting .250 as a team, while limiting Knox to a .066 hitting percentage. Augsburg had 48 kills to Knox’s 16. The Auggies’ regulars saw limited action, as 18 players saw action in at least one set in the match.
• Lola Pilon (JR, Farmington, Minn./Mounds Park Academy HS) led the way for the Auggies against the Prairie Fire, with 12 kills on .417 hitting, adding nine digs and two service aces.
• Playing in just one set, Ava Carlson (FY, Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) hit .875, with seven kills in eight attempts, adding three digs.
• Gwynn Gorter (SO, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) and Marley Mitchell (SO, Nevis, Minn./Nevis HS) had six kills each, with Mitchell adding six digs.
• Three different setters saw action, with Jovial King (SO, Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) collecting 12 assists, Carmen Shimek (SO, Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) collecting 11 and Alayna Schultz (SO, Atwater, Minn./Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City HS) collecting 10.
• Elise Uphoff (JR, Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS) had 17 digs, with New New (FY, Albert Lea, Minn./Albert Lea HS) adding nine.
UW-SUPERIOR 3, AUGSBURG 1
• Augsburg claimed the first set by a 25-21 margin, but dropped the final three sets to the 9-5 Yellowjackets. The match was relatively even statistically, but the Auggies had 28 attack errors to UW-Superior’s 14.
• Carlson scored her 11th career kill-dig double-double and fifth of the season, matching her career-high with 19 kills and adding 15 digs. The 19 kills marked her ninth double-digit kill effort in her 10 matches this season.
• Elizabeth Oster (JR, Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) recorded 11 kills, adding eight digs and three block assists.
• King claimed her fifth 40-plus-assist performance of the season, with 46 assists, and added 10 digs for her fourth assist-dig double-double of the season and ninth of her career.
• Taylor Hoehns (SR, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Dike-New Hartford HS) had nine kills and six digs.
• Maggie Lile (JR, Spring Grove, Minn./Spring Grove HS) had her third match with 20-plus digs, recording 24, with Uphoff adding 15 digs.
FOR THE FOES
• Maria Jabor Jahn had six kills and four kills for Knox against the Auggies.
• Makenna Hohbein had 15 kills and 14 digs to lead UW-Superior.
