Rasmus Dahlin revealed on Friday in a joint letter with his fiancee Carolina that she is on the road to a full recovery after health-related issues they characterized as a “traumatic experience” over the summer.
While on vacation in France, Carolina suffered major heart failure and had to receive an emergency heart transplant.
The Buffalo Sabres captain shared his family’s experience to thank those that helped his family throughout the difficult times and to highlight the importance of CPR training, treatment, organ donation and heart-related issues.
“Without receiving lifesaving CPR, the result would have been unimaginable,” Dahlin wrote. “… Without the incredible commitment, expertise, care, and sensitivity of all the people who treated Carolina, we would not be in the position that we are in today, with Carolina recovering well and on the path to a full recovery.”
Carolina continues to work through her rehab in Sweden as she prepares to return to Buffalo.
