The ITTF Pan American U11 & U13 Championships concluded last week in Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala. Americans swept the singles events with strong performances across the board in the featured events.
The Boys’ U13 Singles event saw all four American entries reach the Semifinals. Chirag Pradhan defeated Andrew Huang in one Semifinal and Xianliang He defeated Jaden Jia in the other. Ultimately, it was Chirag Pradhan claiming the title with a 3-1 win over He. Two American faced each other in one Semifinal with Angel He defeating Abigail Yu. Angel He then went on to top Canada’s Olivia Wang in the Final.
In the Hopes Boys’ Teams Final, USA’s Allen Mao, Jacob Kordus, and Saivaishnav Senthilkumar defeated Brazil 3-1. The third place teams were Venezuela and Canada. The Hopes Girls’ Teams title also went to TeamUSA with Holly Huang, Karina Xiao, and Beier Gsiung defeating Peru 3-0. The third place finishers were Canada and Ecuador. Team USA also won the Hopes Boys’ Doubles with Jacob Kordus and Allen Mao topping Brazil’s Ranieri Araujo and Luis Ferreira 3-0. Hopes Girls’ Doubles was all-American with Natalie Chang and Beier Hsiung defeating Holly Huang and Karina Xiao 3-1. And for the clean sweep in Hopes, it was Sayan Jafa and Natalie Chang defeating Venequela in the Hopes Mixed Doubles.
All four Semifinalists were Americans in the U11 Boys Singles event. Jacob Kordus finished first, Allen Mao finished second, and Saivaishnav Senthilkumar and Sayan Jafa finished third. The U11 Girls Singles prizes all also went to Americans. Karina Xiao finished first, Holly Huang in second, and Natalie Chang and Beier Hsiung finished in third position.
Mini-Cadet Boys’ Teams went to USA with Jaden Jia, Chirag Pradhan, and Xianliang He winning 3-1 over Brazil. Peru and Ecuador finished in third position. TeamUSA also won Mini-Cadet Girls Teams with Anagha Kasichainula, Abigail Yu, and Emma Yang defeating Guatemala 3-0 while Ecuador and Brazil finished in third position. Mini-Cadet Boys’ Doubles went to Brazil with Ecuador in second, and Canadians Jesse Yin and Jimmy Zhu and Americans Chirag Pradhand and Andrew Huang finishing in third position. Mini-Cadet Girls Doubles went to Yu/Kasichainula over He/Yang in an all-American Final with Canadians Wang/Zhu and Brazil’s Barros/Iwamoto in third. And Mini-Cadet mixed went to Americans Jaden Jia and Abigail Yu over Argentina’s Mendez and Linares.
