LAKEWOOD, N.J. –On Saturday afternoon, Pace University Women’s Volleyball turned in a dominant day in New Jersey, sweeping both of its opponents at the GCU Wellness Center.
The Setters began with a 3-0 win over Lincoln University of Pennsylvania before capping the afternoon with a 3-0 victory against Georgian Court University. With the pair of results, Pace improves to 4-1 on the season.
Match One (Lincoln University PA.)
In the opening match of the day versus Lincoln University (PA.), the Setters came out firing, building a quick lead behind the service pressure of Camila Rodriguez and Alice Bender. Rodriguez tallied two of her four aces in the frame, while Bender piled up nine service points overall. Skyler Tennant led the attack with four early kills, and Pace hit an impressive .421 as a team on the way to a 25-12 win.
Lincoln pushed back in the second, forcing six ties in a tighter set. However, the Blue and Gold answered with steady play at the net. Tennant added three more kills, while Emily Cineus and Jaliyah Johnson each chipped in offensively. Aralyn Saulys ran the attack with precision, distributing 24 assists on the day as Pace pulled away late for a 25-17 victory.
The third set was all Pace, as the Setters closed out the match with another strong hitting performance. Johnson sparked the offense with several key kills, finishing with seven overall, while Ileann Alessandra Perez was nearly perfect with five kills on seven swings. Cineus added six kills on a .444 clip, and Bender once again highlighted the defense with a match-high 13 digs. The Blue and Gold held the Lions to just four kills in the final frame, cruising to a 25-10 finish.
Match Two (Georgian Court University)
In the second match of the day against Georgian Court University, Pace settled in after a back-and-forth start, using strong front-line play to pull away late. Ackmann paced the attack early, registering several kills to help the Setters establish momentum. Combined with solid serving from Tennant and back-row stability from Bender, Pace closed on a run to take the first set of the second match of the afternoon, 25-19.
The Blue and Gold put together their sharpest frame in the second, hitting .323 as a team. Ackmann remained a force at the net, while Chambliss added timely kills to stretch the lead. Rodriguez directed the offense with 15 assists and steady defense, and Cineus chipped in a pair of aces as Pace rolled to a 25-17 win and a commanding 2-0 lead.
The Lions battled hard in the third, pushing the Setters into extra points. Georgian Court erased multiple deficits, but Chambliss and Cineus provided crucial swings late. Ackmann sealed the match with her 13th kill of the night, lifting Pace to a 26-24 finish and a clean sweep.
