Signs of more turmoil and indifference in the Rajasthan Royals (RR) franchise spurt up as, following the departure of head coach Rahul Dravid, the renowned RR CEO Jake Lush McCrum too has reportedly parted ways with the franchise. Or is it the other way around?
This is a massive change in the upper management level of RR, as Jake Lush McCrum had been a key figure in the squad selection processes at the auction tables in the last few years. However, he won’t be at RR’s table in the upcoming IPL 2026 auction, which is likely to take place in December this year in one of the Middle Eastern countries.
Why did RR CEO Jake Lush McCrum Leave The Franchise?
A definite answer is not yet known, but RR CEO Jake Lush McCrum has followed Rahul Dravid in parting ways with the Royals. This all is amid the ongoing saga with their captain, Sanju Samson, who has reportedly asked to either be traded away or be released back into the auction pool.
According to a report in Cricbuzz, Jake Lush McCrum has “called up a few fellow franchises and industry friends to inform” them about his split up with RR just a few months ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.
The exits of Dravid and McCrum are further indications of things being tumultuous and unsettled in the RR franchise.
Jake Lush McCrum began his journey with the Rajasthan Royals in 2017 as General Manager before getting a promotion to the role of the franchise’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2019.
A bigger bump in the management career for Jake came in July 2021, when he was named the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the RR franchise.
As RR expanded its reach in other T20 leagues across the world, McCrum presided over as the CEO of RR’s sister franchises, Barbados Royals in CPL and Paarl Royals in SA20, as well.
RR are already contending with their situation regarding Samson’s desired exit from the franchise. They might want to add a new head coach and a new CEO to their bucket list that had already included a new skipper for the IPL 2026 season.
