    Asia Cup Winners Year by Year: The Asia Cup is a biennial cricket tournament that is organized every 2 years, in which Asian cricket teams compete with one another for the trophy. The tournament was established in 1983 by the Asian Cricket Council. As per the ICC rules, all games played in the Asia Cup are played on a rotation basis between ODIs and T20Is.

    Over the years, the Asia Cup has been hosted by many Asian countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The 2023 Asia Cup was co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The tournament was won by the Indian Cricket Team, when they dominated Sri Lanka in the Final by winning the match by 10 wickets. India has won the most Asia Cup trophies, having won the tournament 8 times. Now, let’s take a Look at the Winners of the Asia Cup year by year.

    The Asia Cup tournament has been played since 1984, but still, over the years, only three teams have had the chance to lift the Asia Cup trophy. The Indian Cricket Team won the inaugural Asia Cup tournament, which was in a round-robin format, in 1984. Over the years, the Indian Cricket team has been the most successful team by having won the tournament 8 times in 1984, 1988, 1990/91, 1995, 2010, 2016, 2018, and 2023.

    The Sri Lankan cricket team have won the Asia Cup 6 times (1986, 1997, 2004, 2008, 2014, 2022). They won the 2022 Asia Cup Tournament by beating Pakistan by 23 runs. As of September 2025, after India and Sri Lanka, Pakistan is the other country that have won the Asia Cup tournament. They have bagged the ultimate Asian trophy twice in history. Greens won their first Asia Cup tournament in the year 2000, when they defeated Sri Lanka, and their second Asia Cup in 2012 by defeating Bangladesh. .
