India vs Pakistan is the most heated, charged-up rivalry in cricket, and clearly it has more eyeballs on it than the England vs Australia Ashes series.

While India have dominated Pakistan over the last 15 years, the IND vs PAK matches bring everything and everyone to a standstill. Given the history of the two nations and their conflicts at the border for the past many years, citizens of the countries are heavily involved in the game.

Players†legacies can be defined and remembered by how they performed in India vs Pakistan matches.

There have been over 200 India vs Pakistan matches in international cricket, and the two sides have met in a few finals of multi-nation tournaments.

IND vs PAK: How many times have India and Pakistan met in a tournament final?

India and Pakistan have met in 5 multi-nation tournament finals so far, with the Asia Cup 2025 final being the sixth meeting between them in a final.

IND vs PAK: 5 Times India And Pakistan Met In Tournament Final

1985, World Championship of Cricket, MCG

In front of a 50,000-strong crowd at the MCG, India beat Pakistan in the final of the Benson & Hedges World Championship of Cricket, which was a seven-team competition.

India had beaten Pakistan in their group match and also beat them in the final, courtesy of opener Kris Srikkanthâ€s 67 (77) in the chase of 177. His opening partner, Ravi Shastri, scored 63 runs off 148 balls as the duo forged a 103-run opening stand.

Earlier, Kapil Dev and Laxman Sivaramakrishnan bagged a three-wicket haul each to halt Pakistan at 176.

    1986, Austral-Asia Cup, Sharjah

The 1986 Austral-Asia Cup was played entirely in Sharjah between India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, and New Zealand. India and Pakistan reached the final, which turned out to be an epic thriller.

India posted 245/7 with three half-centurions in the innings. In reply, Pakistan veteran Javed Miandad led the chase with his knock of 116*, but he kept losing partners.

On the last ball, Pakistan needed four runs with only one wicket left. Miandad smacked Chetan Sharmaâ€s full toss for a six over mid-wicket to seal an all-time great ODI match and final for Pakistan. This six remains one of the most talked-about moments in the India vs Pakistan rivalry.

    1994, Austral-Asia Cup, Sharjah

India and Pakistan came face-to-face in the 1994 Austral-Asia Cup final as well. Once again, Pakistan trumped India, this time by a bigger margin of 39 runs.

Riding on half-centuries from Aamer Sohail and Basit Ali, Pakistan finished with 250/6. In the chase, India were bowled out for 211 runs, with Vinod Kambli being the highest scorer with 56.

2007, ICC T20 World Cup, Johannesburg

The inaugural ICC T20 World Cup final was a seismic moment in cricketâ€s history as the IND vs PAK final went down to the wire, with India clinching the game by only five runs after posting 157 on the back of Gautam Gambhirâ€s 75.

Pakistanâ€s chase had many ebbs and flows as Imran Nazir and Misbah-ul-Haq hacked boundaries while Irfan Pathan and co. regularly chipped away with wickets.

It came down to 13 required off the last over, bowled by Joginder Sharma. After a wide ball, Misbah launched a six down the ground, but an ill-fated scoop shot landed safely in the hands of Sreesanth at short fine leg, sending the billion-person nation into ecstasy.

2017, ICC Champions Trophy, The Oval

The ICC Champions Trophy 2017 remains Pakistanâ€s last major title victory. That they beat Virat Kohliâ€s India in the final made this win even more memorable for them and tougher to swallow for the Indians.

India were the favorites, having beaten Pakistan earlier in the group stage. However, a century from Fakhar Zaman and a sensational three-wicket new-ball burst from Mohammad Amir downed India by a massive distance of 180 runs.
