The All-Star festivities at baseballâ€s most elite prospect circuit are always an unforgettable event. The 19th annual Fall Stars Game will be no different. This yearâ€s iteration, set for 8 p.m. ET on Sunday at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona, will bring the Arizona Fall Leagueâ€s top performers together on one field for a canâ€t-miss showcase.
Going on two decades, the Fall Stars Game is an annual panoply of future MLB superstars and award winners. This yearâ€s participants join a ever-growing and impressive list of alumni that includes Gerrit Cole, Max Scherzer, Royce Lewis, Pete Alonso, Ronald Acuña Jr and many others. Fall Stars Game rosters were voted on by AFL staff, farm directors and MLB.com writers prior to Final 2 voting, which concludes Friday at 8 p.m. ET and allows fans added the American League’s Final Vote winner and the National League’s Final Vote winner to the roster.
Eight of MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 prospects are on Sunday’s rosters — distributed evenly across both squads. The AL is led by Tigers top prospect — and No. 2 overall prospect — shortstop Kevin McGonigle, alongside Royals catcher Blake Mitchell (No. 62), Mariners outfielder Jonny Farmelo (No. 75) and White Sox left-hander Hagen Smith (No. 88). The other four are suiting up for the NL: Reds catcher Alfredo Duno (No. 48), right-hander Rhett Lowder (No. 80) and third baseman Cam Collier (No. 94) and Rockies slugger Charlie Condon (No. 61). Lowder will not pitch in the game.
René Rivera (Tigers) of the Scottsdale Scorpions will manage the AL squad and Jesus Azuaje (Royals) of the Surprise Saguaros will manage the NL team, along with their respective AFL coaching staffs.
