WWE Hall of Famer The Godfather recently opened up about the company’s Nation of Domination, and why he believes Owen Hart was added to it.
Speaking during a recent episode of his Poddin’ Ain’t Easy podcast (via WrestlingNews.co), The Godfather opened up about the group. He revealed that Vince McMahon didn’t want the group to be too powerful at its start. On top of that, he said, he believes McMahon didn’t want to be too offensive.
“At first, when they started that, Vince didn’t want it to be too powerful, and he didn’t want it to be as powerful as it got,” The Godfather said. “He didn’t want to offend too many people. So at first the Nation involved a Puerto Rican [Savio Vega], a white guy, a Hawaiian [Crush], a black guy [Faarooq], some rappers [PG-13].”
Alongside some other members, the late Owen Hart was also in the group. However, The Godfather remains just as confused as fans as to why he was involved.
“Even back then, I still don’t understand why Owen Hart was in the nation,” said The Godfather. “Nobody, I talked to D’Lo, I talked to everybody, nobody has no idea. I think Vince did it just to piss off white people,” the Hall of Famer joked.
