Chaos erupted on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, with Brock Lesnar interrupting a title match that John Cena was participating in.
During tonight’s SmackDown, Cena came out for his final episode of SmackDown. Back where it all started in Chicago, Cena began by talking about his legacy. He spoke about how the fans have slowly began embracing him after years of hating him. He said he had no real plans, but wanted to just have a nice night.
Someone did have plans, though. Out came Sami Zayn, who was surprisingly booed by the crowd as he made his way down. Wearing his newly won WWE United States Championship, Zayn said he had a lot to thank Cena for. If it wasn’t for Cena’s old open challenges, Zayn said, he didn’t know where he’d be.
As a result, Zayn said, he wanted to follow in Cena’s footsteps, and start up his own United States Championship Open Challenge.
Cena loved the idea and co-signed it, but Zayn had one more surprise for the legend. Zayn said he wanted to start the challenge off by offering Cena a match tonight. The subsequent match had all the looks of a classic, but before a final result could be reached, Lesnar‘s music hit.
Lesnar came out and promptly did just what he did at SummerSlam. First, he picked Zayn up and hit an F5 to the star. Then, he hit one on Cena, and all but officially set the stage for a match between he and Cena at Wrestlepalooza.
