Wyalusing ended Wellsboro’s three game win streak to start the 2025 season Thursday evening, edging out the Lady Hornets 3-2.
The Lady Hornets took the first two sets, 25-14, before the Lady Rams rallied to win the third set, 25-21. Wyalusing won the fourth 25-19 then held on for a 16-14 win in the fifth set.
Wyalusing also swept the JV game, winning 25-18 in both sets.
Sophomore Peyton Keane led Wellsboro with 13 kills, 12 points (5 aces) and 17 digs while junior Madison Cruttenden made 17 digs and scored 12 points (3 aces). Junior Ellie Largey had 16 assists, senior Taylor Main made 11 assists, sophomore Adelyn Frantz had 11 kills, and sophomore Kendall Sweet scored 12 points (5 aces) and had 5 kills.
The Lady Hornets (3-1, 2-1 NTL Large School Division) travel to rival North Penn-Liberty Tuesday.
