Pat McAfee is set to make his acting debut.
Netflix announced that the former WWE Raw commentator has been cast in Peter Berg’s film, “The Mosquito Bowl.” He will play the role of a US Marine drill instructor.
The movie is based on the true story of four college football players who enlisted in the Marines following the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. The name “The Mosquito Bowl” refers to a football game played between two regiments of Marines on Guadalcanal on December 24, 1944.
It is adapted from the 2022 book by Buzz Bissinger, “The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II.”
Filming began this month in Queensland, Australia, which may explain McAfee’s recent absence from The Pat McAfee Show. Guest hosts have been handling duties for the show since August 14. McAfee announced in July that he was stepping away from his Raw commentary role due to burnout.
“Joining the cast in the supporting role of a US Marine drill instructor is American sports analyst and host Pat McAfee,” wrote Stephan Lee for Netflix’s Tudum. McAfee’s involvement with WWE was not mentioned in the article.
Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis star in THE MOSQUITO BOWL. Directed by Peter Berg. Now in production.
