October 26, 2025 | Connor Whitehead

With tickets completely SOLD OUT for the penultimate WTT Star Contender of the year! The players are ready, the crowd is packed, and we are set for an amazing WTT Star Contender London showdown!

Action gets underway from 11am as we start with the first Women’s Singles semi-final between Japan’s Hina Hayata and Cheng-I-Ching of Chinese Taipei. Cheng overcame Manika Batra in three straight games to advance to the semi-final. Hayata avenged her doubles les teammate Mima Ito, as she dispatched Zeng Jian of Singapore 3-0.

The first Men’s Singles event is scheduled for 11:40 and it is set to be an absolute epic. Lin Yun-Ju takes on Tomokazu Harimoto. Lin overcame Sora Matushima after leading 2-0 in the semi-final, before finding himself 7-2 down in the fifth end, with a remarkable comeback he claimed his semi-final spot to set up a third showdown between the pair this season. Harimoto will be aiming to add his fourth WTT Men’s Singles title to his long list of achievements in London.

Miwa Harimoto then takes on teammate Honoka Hashimoto in the final Women’s Singles semi-final. Miwa the younger sister of Tomokazu, is going for her fifth singles title on this year’s WTT series. Harimoto defeated Yang Yiyun of China 3-0 in her quarter final, a lot more straight forward than Hashimoto’s victory over teammate Miyu Nagasaki of Japan, where the defensive player came through 11-8 in the decider.

It is then the turn of the European men to take to the stage, and with one confirmed European star in the Men’s Singles Final, all that is left to be confirmed is if it will be Milosz Redzimski of Poland or Dang Qiu of Germany who will fly the flag for Europe. It was an all European quarter final affair also, as Redzimski overcame Karlsson of Swede, whilst Dang defeated his teammate Kay Stumper of Germany.

The final match of the AM session is set for 13:30 with the Mixed Doubles final, between Lin Yun-Ju and Cheng-I-Ching as they take on Wong Chun Ting and Hoi Doo Kem of Hong Kong, the first time these pairs have collided since 2019. In that year it was the Chinese Taipei pair who came out on top in both meetings, however the Hong Kong pair are seeking their first ever WTT title as a pair.

We then kick off the final session of the first ever WTT Star Contender from 5pm, with the singles finals, which are set to be absolutely electric. The event is now completely sold out, and the atmosphere within the venue, and the crowd in particular has ben credited throughout the event, with many players highlighting how great the support has been.
