Who will be the new jersey sponsor of Indian cricket team?

New jersey sponsor of Indian cricket team: On Monday, August 25, reports confirmed that the BCCI and Dream11 had parted ways following the passing of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025 from the Indian government.

Dream11 was the biggest fantasy gaming platform in India and had grown manifold in recent years. With its growing size and pockets, Dream11 had bagged the jersey sponsorship of the Indian cricket team. Dream11’s deal with the BCCI was from 2023 to 2026 for a reported US$ 44 million (INR 358 crore approx.).

It has been learned that the BCCI also had a deal worth over INR 100 crore with My11Circle, another fantasy gaming company. Together, they reportedly contribute around INR 1000 crore to the BCCI via sponsorship of Indian cricket teams and the IPL.

However, the major chunk of these fantasy platforms’ revenue stream has taken a gigantic hit when the Indian government passed this bill, banning “real money games” in India.

“If it’s not permissible, we’ll not do anything. The BCCI will follow every policy of the country that is framed by the central government,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia was reported as saying.

Following the separation of Dream11 and the BCCI, a couple of major companies have apparently pondered over joining hands with the BCCI and becoming the jersey sponsor of the Indian cricket team. One of them is the Japanese car company Toyota.

After Dream11’s exit, sources have told NDTV that Japanese car company Toyota could show interest in becoming India’s new jersey sponsor. Also, an unnamed fintech start-up is also thinking over putting its name in the ring.

The BCCI is expecting to bag a deal of an even bigger sum than it had with Dream11. The BCCI will have to take action soon, as the Asia Cup 2025 is only a couple of weeks away.

Apart from the breaking of ties between BCCI and Dream11, several players will also stop endorsing fantasy gaming platforms.
