Who is the new BCCI President and Treasurer?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to have some new faces in its administration, including the president and treasurer.

The official elections for multiple important office bearers of the BCCI will be held on September 28 in its AGM in Mumbai. However, it has been reported that the names of the incoming members are finalized, and everyone will be attending an unofficial meeting on Sunday evening in Ahmedabad. The former BCCI Secretary and the current ICC Chairman, Jay Shah, is also expected to attend this meet-and-greet.

The BCCIâ€s president position was vacated by Roger Binny in August after the former India all-rounder stepped down from the post.

The BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has been serving as the interim president since Binny stepped away.

Who is the new BCCI President?

Former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas, who played for CSK in the IPL, is reportedly set to become the new BCCI president, replacing Roger Binny, who resigned in August.

Born in Jammu, Manhas was a giant in Indian domestic cricket for Delhi and J&K. Manhas featured in 157 first-class matches from 1997/98 to 2016, scoring 9714 runs at an average of 45 and notching up 27 centuries and 49 fifties.

He took the field 130 times in List-A cricket and 91 times in T20 cricket, including playing in the IPL and in the now-defunct Champions League T20. Manhas was part of the IPL from 2008 to 2015 for three different franchises: Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors India, and Chennai Super Kings.

Since retiring in 2016, he has worked as a coach and batting consultant for Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and most recently the Gujarat Titans. Currently, he is part of a group that runs the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association.

As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, Mithun Manhas got the backing of key figures, including Jay Shah, Rajeev Shukla, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, DDCA president Rohan Jaitley, and former secretary Niranjan Shah, to take over the vacant BCCI president position. Manhas has apparently been chosen over the likes of Jaydev Shah and Harbhajan Singh.

Further, former Karnataka and India left-arm spinner Raghuram Bhat will be the new BCCI treasurer. Bhat is currently the KSCA president. Rajeev Shukla is retained as the BCCI vice-president.
