Wedbush, Omene Named AVCA All-America Honorable Mentions

PRINCETON, N.J. – Henry Wedbush and Nyherowo Omene were named AVCA All-America Honorable Mentions, the organization announced Monday.

The national recognition comes after a season when both seniors led the Tigers through a successful season, capped off with an EIVA regular season championship.

In the EIVA tournament, Princeton had a dominant showing in the semifinals against George Mason, led by Omene and Wedbush’s new career highs in kills and assists, respectively. Omene made 28 kills in the four set match, while Wedbush tallied 52 assists.

Omene finished the season leading the EIVA in three stat categories, including kills (4.40/s), service aces (0.48/s) and points (5.31/s). He also ranked second in hitting percentage (.320) and eighth in digs (1.57).

Nationally, Omene ended the season ranked third in points, fifth in kills, and tenth in both aces and attacks per set.

For his performance, Omene was named to the First Team All-EIVA in the conference postseason awards. Over the course of the season, he was named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week four times and EIVA Defensive Player of the Week once.

Wedbush was a critical playmaker for the Tigers all season, as the setter guided the team to its success while racking up a total of 837 assists. His average of 9.51 a set put him at third in the league and 25th in the nation.

After an outstanding season, Wedbush was named the 2025 EIVA Player of the Year. He is just the second Tiger all-time to win the award, with George Huhmann taking the title in 2019.

Wedbush was also named to the First Team All-EIVA and received All-EIVA Academic honors.

With their time in the Orange & Black coming to a close, this prestigious accolade caps off incredible careers for both Wedbush and Omene, who now look to graduate from Princeton this month having left a lasting impact on the Princeton men’s volleyball program.
