Tua, Dolphins Impress NFL Fans with 1st Win Despite Tyreek Injury vs. Fields, Jets

Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins bounced back from an 0-3 start with a 27-21 win over the New York Jets at home on Monday despite the loss of Tyreek Hill at the start of the second half.

Miami’s go-to wide receiver suffered a knee injury in the third quarter of Monday’s game and was carted off the field. The injury occurred when Hill caught a 10-yard pass on third-and-8 before being tackled out of bounds, and his leg bent awkwardly underneath him. He recorded six receptions for 67 yards before exiting.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Hill is believed to have suffered a dislocated knee.

Stepping up after the loss of their standout teammate, Tagovailoa threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns while completing 17-of-25 passes, connecting with veteran tight end Darren Waller for both touchdown passes while De’Von Achane added a score on the ground along with 99 rushing yards.

With the loss, Justin Fields and the Jets remain winless on the season, falling to 0-4.

Picking up their first win of the season, Tagovailoa, Waller and the Dolphins impressed fans with a win Monday, despite losing Hill to injury, as they picked up their first victory of the season.

Miami took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter with a 47-yard field goal, while the Jets got off to a disastrous start, fumbling on their first two possessions. One of those turnovers set up a Dolphins touchdown to open the second quarter and extend the lead to 10-0.

New York got on the board just before halftime with a 58-yard field goal, trailing 10-3 at the break.

The Jets’ struggles continued in the second half, fumbling the opening kickoff. Miami capitalized with a 3:20 scoring drive, capped by a touchdown to go up 17-3.

New York responded with its first touchdown at the 9:23 mark in the third quarter to pull within one score, but the Dolphins quickly answered with another touchdown on their next possession to push the lead to 24-10.

Despite a fourth-quarter push — including a field goal and a touchdown while holding the Dolphins to just a field goal — the Jets’ comeback effort fell short as Miami held on for a 27-21 win.

The Dolphins will look to keep their momentum going as they hit the road to face the Carolina Panthers next Sunday.
