Trae Young Roasts Patrick Beverley in Video After Comments, Trolls Play-in Celebration

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young clapped back at Patrick Beverley after recent comments on his podcast.

Young released a video responding to Young’s comments while also dishing a few disses of his own. Most notably, Young trolled Beverley for jumping on the scorers table after a play-in win several years ago.

“I win play-in games on the road and I’m ready to get to the playoffs,” Young said. “You win play-in games at home and you standing on the scorers table acting like it’s a championship.”

On the latest episode of the Pat Bev Pod, Beverly said players don’t enjoy playing with Young because they “don’t think he’s a good leader” and “don’t think he’s a good teammate.”

The beef started earlier this week, however, when Young replied to a post from Beverly. Beverly called out players’ effort in the All-Star Game, and Young told him to “relax.”

After Beverly gave his criticisms of Young, the All-Star point guard responded with some of his own.

“I know you were labeled as a tough defender, a great defender, and the accolades say that you were,” Young said in his YouTube video. “But I promise you, anytime you was on the court with me, I was never scared of you. I was never scared of Patty Bev.”

When calling out Beverly’s resume, Young noted that Beverly has been to the playoffs six more times than Young, but he added that they have both reached the conference finals once.

“You’ve been to one conference finals, I’ve been to one conference finals,” he said. “What year was that for you? Just another fact, Year 9. The year I made it was Year 3, just a fact… You talk about a winner, what have you won?”

Young ended his rant towards Beverly with the instrumental to Drake’s “Tuscan Leather,” which features the line “Bench players talking like starters, I hate it.”

The feud between Young and Beverly was certainly an unexpected twist to the offseason, but the two likely won’t get the chance to hash it out on the court since Beverly is not currently signed to an NBA roster.
