Tony Khan Says Jon Moxley Is One of the Most Important People in AEW

Jon Moxley isnâ€t just one of AEWâ€s biggest starsâ€”heâ€s one of the companyâ€s key backstage leaders.

Thatâ€s according to AEW President Tony Khan, who had nothing but praise for the former world champion during a new interview with Dirt Sheet Radio. Moxley has been with AEW since 2019, stepping in whenever the company needed a dependable main eventer. Even during his stint in rehab, fans and management alike continued to rally behind him. According to Khan, Mox is far more than just a top name on the card.

â€œItâ€s incredible. Jon Moxley since day one has been one of the most important stars in AEW, but backstage Jon Moxley is also, as youâ€ve correctly assessed, one of the most important people backstage in AEW.â€

Khan mentioned how respected Moxley is by the entire locker room and described just how committed heâ€s been to AEW since the beginning.

â€œEverybody in AEW has so much respect for Jon Moxley and he arrived in AEW as a huge star. Since we started AEW, heâ€s been the most consistent presence on the show week in, week out on all of our shows.â€

Itâ€s not just Moxleyâ€s ring work that earns praiseâ€”itâ€s also his leadership and wrestling IQ that sets him apart.

â€œJon Moxley works so hard. Heâ€s a phenomenal wrestler. Heâ€s a phenomenal leader. Heâ€s a genius about pro wrestling, and Jon Moxley is one of my favorite people Iâ€ve ever gotten to work with.â€

Khan made it clear that Moxleyâ€s contributions have directly shaped AEWâ€s growth:

â€œEverything heâ€s done in this company has been to the benefit of AEW and Jon Moxleyâ€s a phenomenal, phenomenal wrestler.â€

Moxleyâ€s legacy in AEW is already solidified with multiple title runs and a rep for being the guy who always shows up when needed. But hearing Tony Khan put it into words shows just how valued he is both on and off camera.
