Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland wasted no time getting surgery done following Forbidden Door on Sunday.
In recent weeks, we learned that Swerve Strickland was scheduled to take some time off at All In: Texas to take care of a torn meniscus that he’s been dealing with since 2019. But due to other injuries on the roster, Strickland worked through Forbidden Door, losing a match against Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Unified Championship.
Strickland and Prince Nana were both seemingly written off television following the match. Which saw Okada and a returning Wardlow lay waste to both men.
Less than 72 hours later, Strickland took to his Instagram Stories to post a picture of his knee wrapped up. This seemingly confirms he had successful surgery on his torn meniscus.
Strickland solidified the news by taking to social media to post a one-word message to his fans, tweeting out:
“Success,” Strickland said in a post.
Based on the nature of the surgery, there’s a decent chance that Swerve could be back in the ring for AEW by Worlds End later this year.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information on Swerve’s recovery as it becomes available.
