Stephanie McMahon Liked Being Called A Sl*t

Stephanie McMahon reflected on the time she received a ton of “sl*t” chants from the WWE fans in Florida.

It was 1999, and Stephanie had turned heel, aligning with Triple H. The two became an on-screen couple. Eventually, they also married in real life.

McMahon recounted the crowd reaction she got at a show in Florida after Armageddon that year, where the turn happened.

On What’s Your Story? With Steph McMahon, The Billion Dollar Princess discussed being a babyface and heel in the world of wrestling with WWE Hall of Famer, Paul Heyman.

She took a stroll down memory lane to the time fans rained “s*ut” chants upon her. McMahon claimed she liked it, as it was visible proof that her heel turn was working.

Chicago was ‘she’s a crack wh***,’ most everywhere else it was ‘sl*t.’ And that was a very long time ago. I’m sure our viewers have no idea currently that that time period ever happened,” Stephanie McMahon said.

“They really chanted ‘sl*t’ right off the bat, as soon as I turned heel, and it was so great. I was like, ‘What are they chanting?’ Because that was at Armageddon, which was December of ’99, and it was the time I did the heel turn and got with Paul [Triple H] in storyline, NOT in reality.

The next day, I think we were in Florida, and they came with the ‘sl*t’ chant and it was the greatest thing I had ever heard, because nobody else got chanted at that way. […] Arenas of people, thousands of people chanting ‘sl*t’ at me, it was the best. It was the greatest.”

Stephanie McMahon further confessed that she loved being a heel compared to a babyface, because it was so much more fun on that side and a lot easier. Heyman added that, as the ‘good person,’ wrestlers have to fight with the fact that they may overstay their welcome.

Paul Heyman himself has mostly spent his career as a heel, but the fans respect his contributions to the business. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year, an offer he’d refused four times before his eventual induction.
