Stefon Diggs Hailed as a ‘Great Leader’ by Hunter Henry, Brought ‘Energy’ to Patriots

New England Patriots wideout Stefon Diggs’ leadership was praised by teammate Hunter Henry after the Patriots improved to 3-2 with a 23-20 win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.

“He’s been great,” Henry said regarding Diggs, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. “He’s played in this league for a long time, he’s been a great leader, he’s brought a great energy to our offense, but also to that receiver room, to the skill guys, and it was fun to see him in a place he had a lot of success in, to go back in there and have the success he had last night was pretty fun to watch.”

Diggs was stellar in the matchup with Buffalo, hauling in a season-high 10 receptions for 146 yards on 12 targets. He helped New England emerge victorious over a Bills squad that he previously spent time with from 2020-23.

As for Henry, he recorded two catches for 46 yards in the win.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel also brought up Diggs’ leadership while praising the veteran receiver along with quarterback Drake Maye.

“I’m proud of both of them,” Vrabel said after the game, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “Being able to emotionally come back here for Stef and being in this thing all week — a really good leader for us.”

Diggs is in the midst of his first season in New England after signing a three-year deal worth $69 million to join the team in March.

The four-time Pro Bowler remained effective throughout his final year with the Bills in 2023, but his 2024 campaign with the Houston Texans was cut short after just eight games due to a torn ACL.

Diggs has gradually looked like his former self this season, catching 29 passes for 359 yards through five games. It’s worth noting that 247 of his receiving yards have come over the past two weeks.

The veteran seems to be making a strong impression on his new teammates both on and off the field.
