South West Table Tennis: Celebrating Local Success

November 19, 2025 | Amanda Leonard

Welcome to the November South West Area update

This month weâ€re highlighting two fantastic stories from across the region that showcase the commitment, creativity and energy of our table tennis community. From facility development to major equipment investment, these projects demonstrate the impact that proactive volunteers and clubs can make on local opportunities to play.

Honouring the past and planning for the future

Failand Table Tennis Club has a remarkable history, beginning with a building gifted to its members and rebuilt by volunteers who transformed it into a thriving home for table tennis. With activity continuing to grow, the club is now exploring how it can renovate and adapt the space for the future. You can read the full story here:

Supporting the next generation of coaches

Good luck to the 25 aspirant coaches taking part in Level 1 coaching courses this month in Gloucestershire and Devon. A special thank you goes to the hosts of these courses: Malcolm Woodrow of Thornbury Table Tennis Club and Paul Whiting, who is also the course tutor at Plymouth Joola.

This new cohort adds to the 30 coaches who completed their training in Bournemouth and Nailsworth since August. It is fantastic to see so many people stepping forward to develop their skills and support the growth of table tennis across the South West.

Good luck also to those taking part in the online TO2 Course.

The power of sharing good news

Sharing positive stories like these is vital. It celebrates the achievements of our volunteers, highlights the work taking place within clubs and leagues, and inspires others to take similar steps in their own communities. Promoting good news helps strengthen connections across the table tennis development network and raises awareness of opportunities to play, learn and belong. Every success, whether large or small, contributes to the growth of the sport across the South West.
