Later that year, she was included in New Zealand’s squad for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in the West Indies, where she was highlighted as the star of the team.
In July 2020, Devine was appointed as the full-time captain of the New Zealand women’s cricket team, succeeding Amy Satterthwaite. In September 2021, during the second T20I against England, she reached the milestone of playing her 100th T20 International match.

Sophie Devine’s mother is Kathy Devine. Growing up, her mom was the one who managed Sophie’s busy schedule growing up, making sure she could balance school, cricket, hockey, and other sports. She has been credited by Sophie with keeping her organized and preventing burnout while balancing so many responsibilities.
