vs. Lincoln University (Pa.)

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – On Tuesday night, Pace University Women’s Volleyball dropped a non-conference matchup, falling in three sets to Mercy College on the road. The Setters now sit at 2-1 on the season following the road setback (17-25, 25-27, 17-25).

The opening frame saw the Setters battle to find their rhythm against a quick Maverick offense. Kadence Ackmann and Emily Cineus provided early points at the net, while Camila Rodriguez steadied the back row with several digs. Despite the effort, a late Mercy run pushed the hosts to a 25-17 win.

The second set proved to be the tightest of the night, featuring 14 ties and four lead changes. Pace’s offense came alive, with Ackmann and Cineus leading the squad in the frame. Skyler Tennant and Keelah Chambliss added kills to keep Pace in striking distance, and the Setters even held set point late. Mercy, however, managed to escape in extra points, 27-25.

Mercy carried momentum into the final frame, hitting at a .560 rate to close out the match. The Blue and Gold continued to battle, highlighted by kills from Tennant, Chambliss, and Cyanna Shirley, as well as defensive work from Alice Bender. Ultimately, the Mavericks secured the set 25-17 to finish the sweep.

Ackmann led the attack with 8 kills and 5 digs, while Cineus posted 7 kills with a team-high 3 total blocks. Rodriguez paced the back line with 11 assists and 5 digs, while Bender added 7 digs.

The Setters continue non-conference action this weekend with a tri-match in Lakewood, N.J. On the Saturday slate, the Setters take on Lincoln University (PA.) at 2:00 p.m. before a meeting with Georgian Court University at 5:00 p.m.
