Rusev Allegedly Sent Divorce Papers To Lana On Her Birthday, Denies Storyline Rumor

WWE star Rusev and Lana (aka CJ Perry) being separated in 2023 was an unexpected update for fans, which had prompted rumors regarding the reason.

The couple has since reconciled and is now together again. They recently appeared together on the first episode of CJ Perry’s Identity Crisis podcast, which led to a conversation about their previous separation. Rusev had apparently served the divorce papers first. But despite what Lana claims, he did not serve the divorce papers on her birthday.

Speaking on the episode on CJ Perry‘s YouTube channel, Lana talked about how she saw that the WWE superstar was talking to his lawyer about divorce via email. As she explained her side, Rusev stated that her claim about the papers being served on her birthday was untrue. Furthermore, he made it clear that the whole separation was a very real incident:

This is not true, though. This is shoot. Her birthday is in March 23rd, 1995. (…) I just want to say that it was not on her birthday”

WWE RAW’s Rusev Also Talked About How He Went On Dates During The Separation

Rusev apparently went on dates during the breakup just to have conversations with other women.

Adding to the discussion, the WWE superstar explained how he never talked to other women during his marriage. He said:

I went on a few dates, yeah. How did that go for you? I just wanted some conversations. I just wanted to, because you know, I’m with her. I’ve never even talked to a woman, like honestly, like, you know, because I’m a respectful husband. I don’t do that kind of stuff. And I just wanted to see what kind of a conversation can I have with the other female? You know, it doesn’t have to be sleeping or it doesn’t have, you just want to see a conversation. Yeah. It was interesting to see, you know, the age gap. When you go with a 20 year old or a 30 year old or a 40 year old, what the difference is.”

Rusev and Lana appear to be happy with each other now, and they have renewed their vows. With Lana now signed to WWE under a Legends contract, it does seem possible that she will make an on-screen appearance down the line.
