Kevin Durant and Steven Adams played together on the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2013-2016, and now the two are teammates again on the Houston Rockets after they acquired KD from the Phoenix Suns via trade last July.
The two are apparently catching up off the court, as they were part of a group that went fishing recently.
Houston has a little free time until training camp begins on Sept. 30. Preseason play begins on Oct. 6 before the Rockets and defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder play the NBA’s first 2025-26 regular season matchup on Oct. 21.
The Rockets won 52 games last year and earned the Western Conference’s No. 2 seed before falling in seven games to the Golden State Warriors. It was an impressive leap up the standings after going 41-41 and missing the playoffs the year before.
They’re looking to take another big step this year with the 37-year-old Durant, a 15-time All-Star and four-time scoring champion who averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season.
Houston returns much of its talent from last year, including All-Star big man Alperen Şengün and NBA All-Defensive First Teamer Amen Thompson. Adding Durant to a talented rotation that also includes a valued big man in Adams off the bench should only boost the Rockets’ hope to make and win their first NBA Finals since 1995.
