The Edmonton Oilers are set to be shorthanded for their season-opener against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday.
Both are dealing with undisclosed injuries.
“He’s a question mark to play Wednesday,” Knoblauch said about Walman. “There was a little bit of a setback. We anticipated he’d be able to for sure play on Wednesday, but now he’s looking questionable on Wednesday and we’re definitely hoping Saturday he’ll be up.”
Walman only suited up for one pre-season game this year against the Flames on Sept. 21. He played 21:59 in the 3-2 loss and recorded five shots on goal and one blocked shot.
The 29-year-old was acquired from the San Jose Sharks at the 2025 trade deadline. In 15 regular-season games, he notched one goal and seven assists. He added two goals and eight assists in 22 post-season games.
Janmark, meanwhile, played in three pre-season games this year, with his last appearance coming against the Winnipeg Jets on Sept. 26.
“He’s probably out for one to two weeks, so that’s probably not long-term injured reserve,” Knoblauch said. “We’re looking for about a week, maybe two, for Janmark.”
The 32-year-old had two goals and 16 assists in 80 games for the Oilers last season.
