Caleb Malhotra had a goal and assist in a four-goal first period and the Brantford Bulldogs went on to defeat the visiting Peterborough Petes 5-1 in Ontario Hockey League action on Saturday.
Tommy Karmiris, Vladimir Dravecky, Luca Testa and Aiden O’Donnell scored for the Bulldogs, who led 4-1 after the first period. Cooper Dennis chipped in with two assists.
Yanis Lutz scored for the Petes, who were outshot 38-37.
The Bulldogs went 1-for-10 on the power play, while the Petes were 0-for-3.

ERIE, Penn. — Matheas Stark scored twice and added an assist as the visiting Kitchener Rangers defeated the Erie Otters 3-1.
Haeden Ellis also scored for the Rangers, who were outshot 30-18, but netminder Jason Schaubel kicked out 29 shots.
The Rangers had a power-play goal, short-handed goal and an empty-netter.
Garrett Frazer scored for the Otters, who trailed 2-0 heading into the third period.
WINDSOR, Ont. — Ethan Belchetz had a goal and assist as the Windsor Spitfires topped the visiting London Knights 4-1.
Jean-Christoph Lemieux, Cole Davis and Beksultan Makysh also scored for the Spitfires, who outshot the visitors 27-20.
Logan Hawery scored for the Knights, who trailed 1-0 after the first period and 2-1 heading into the third.
BARRIE, Ont. — William Schneid scored twice and Cole Emerton and Joe Salandra each had two assists as the Barrie Colts beat the visiting Guelph Storm 6-2.
Carter Lowe, Calvin Crombie, Brad Gardiner and Salandra also scored for the Colts, who outshot the Storm 43-27.
Hunter McKenzie and Jaakko Wycisk scored for the Storm, who trailed 2-0 after the first period and 6-2 heading into the third.
FIREBIRDS 6, SPIRIT 5 (OT)
SAGINAW, Mich. — Chase Hull’s second goal of the game, scored with 14 seconds left in overtime, lifted the visiting Flint Firebirds to a 6-5 win over the Saginaw Spirit.
Jeremy Martin scored three goals for the Firebirds and Matthew Wang added a single and two assists.
Egor Barabanov, Brody Pepoy, Liam Storch, Graydon Jones and Dimian Zhilkin scored for the Spirit, who outshot the visitors 48-36.
The Spirit led 4-3 after the first period and the teams were tied 4-4 heading into the third.
