Odell Beckham Jr. Says NFL Retirement ‘Not Happening,’ Wants to ‘Finish Off My Legacy’

Odell Beckham Jr. isn’t ready to call it a career just yet.

In an interview with Complex, the free agent wide receiver shut down retirement rumors and said he’s the healthiest he’s been “in a long time.”

“Retiring is not happening,” Beckham said (17:40 mark). “I just came from the gym. This is the first time in a long time I can, like, pop up out of bed or if a dog was about to chase me I could take off running. I’m good. And I know I could play in the league right now.”

While Beckham wants a chance to play somewhere, he’s not gunning for a WR1 position. He just wants to make an impact.

“I’m not looking to be someone’s No. 1 wide receiver and get 15 targets,” Beckham said. “Like, bro I know the game. I get how it goes… I just be wanting to play ball on a good team where I have a role, where I got five, six, seven plays where I get the chance to catch… I just want to play ball, finish off my legacy for myself.”

Beckham, a three-time Pro Bowler and former Offensive Rookie of the Year, last played for the Miami Dolphins in 2024, though he recorded just nine catches for 55 yards in nine games.

Before his stop in Miami, he was a productive receiver for the Baltimore Ravens, logging 565 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games.

While Beckham remains unsigned going into Week 3, injuries and other factors will likely leave teams needing a wide receiver. Beckham will be ready if he gets any calls.
