Neymar Responds After Brazil: Neymar has offered a pointed response to his omission from Brazil’s squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers, posting a message about “desire, determination and persistence” alongside an image of himself training with kettlebells.
The 33-year-old forward was absent from Carlo Ancelotti’s latest selection, the coach citing a “minor problem” that required attention. Neymar, however, chose Instagram to underline his intent:
“Success comes from desire, determination, and persistence in achieving a goal. Even if you don’t reach your target, those who seek and overcome obstacles will, at the very least, do admirable things.”
Neymar’s return to Santos has so far produced six goals and three assists in 19 appearances, figures that do little to strengthen his case for international recall. Once a fixture of the Seleção, with spells at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain defining his career, he now faces the familiar battle of fitness and form at a time when Ancelotti is moulding a younger, more resilient squad.
Brazil, already assured of a place at the 2026 World Cup, host Chile on September 5 before travelling to Bolivia. Whether Neymar features again in yellow is less a question of sentiment than of evidence.
