Lamar Jackson Out for Ravens vs. Bears with Hamstring Injury, Tyler Huntley to Start

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will miss Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

Tyler Huntley will start in Jackson’s place.

In a statement released after Jackson was ruled out, the team said that Jackson was present and participated fully in Friday’s practice. However, the team noted he “didn’t take starter reps in practice” and thus the injury report was updated to “reflect his practice participation.” The league plans to review the matter.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network initially reported that Jackson ran the scout team in Friday’s practice, “an indication” that the quarterback “is a week away” from a return despite initially being listed as a full participant in the session.

Jackson hasn’t played since Week 4 due to a hamstring injury.

He appeared to be making progress in his recovery after Baltimore’s Week 7 bye, returning to practice as a limited participant on Wednesday when he was seen throwing and running.

It marked his first practice since suffering the injury. He went through another limited practice on Friday and was officially listed as questionable.

The Ravens will be hoping to get Jackson back on the field next week, as they currently sit at 1-5 on the season.

Jackson was off to another strong start to the season prior to the injury, completing 71.6 percent of his throws for 869 yards and 10 touchdowns compared to just one interception. His 75.0 QBR ranks No. 5 among 33 qualified quarterbacks this year, via ESPN.

The four-time Pro Bowler has also remained a threat on the ground, rushing for 166 yards and a touchdown on 21 attempts.

Jackson’s presence on the field is sorely needed for a Ravens squad that has experienced issues defensively, owning the NFL’s worst scoring defense by giving up 32.3 points per game.
