Keon Coleman Talks Improving 'Maturity' After 1Q Benching in Bills' Loss to Patriots
The Buffalo Bills benched wide receiver Keon Coleman for the first series of their 23-20 home loss to the New England Patriots last Sunday evening due to “discipline” reasons, per head coach Sean McDermott to reporters.
On Thursday, Coleman took full responsibility for his actions and noted what he’s looking to do moving forward, per ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg.
“Just being what I’m supposed to be, doing what I’m supposed to do and showing that level of maturity,” Coleman said.
The former Florida State star also spoke about the benching in general, noting he’s better than that “as a person and individual.”
Bills quarterback Josh Allen was asked if he felt he needed to say anything to Coleman, and he provided this response.
“I think [Coleman] understands, I think he knows. At the end of the day, this locker room, this team, you don’t ever want to let your teammates down and I think he understands that, and he doesn’t want to let us down. We move forward.”
As for the game, it was a tough loss for the Bills, who dropped their first matchup of the season. Coleman did end up making an impact, catching four passes for 23 yards and a touchdown.
For the season, Coleman is second on the Bills in receptions (21), third in receiving yards (226) and tied for second in receiving touchdowns (two).
Buffalo will look to improve to 5-1 on Sunday when the team visits the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football.
