Kalen DeBoer, Alabama Rip Off 4th Straight Win as Ryan Williams Thrills Fans vs. Vandy
The No. 10 Alabama Crimson Tide have now won four straight games after a season-opening loss thanks to a 30-14 home victory over No. 16 Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon.
Alabama moved the ball well on the ground and through the air. Jam Miller rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Ty Simpson completed 23-of-31 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns (one interception).
Eight different Alabama players caught passes, led by wide receiver Ryan Williams and his six receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown, which helped tie the game at seven.
Alabama’s defense struggled in the first half en route to a 14-all halftime tie. However, that unit bore down in the second half, shutting out the Commodores. Keon Sabb snagged a big interception to shut down a Vanderbilt drive while the Commodores were threatening to score in the red zone.
Overall, it was an impressive outing for an Alabama team that endured a brutal start of the season courtesy of a 31-17 road loss at Florida State. Alabama has bounced back, though, most notably last week with a 24-21 road win at No. 5 Georgia.
A 16-point victory over another ranked team certainly helps keep the good times rolling in Tuscaloosa, and fans and analysts were impressed with Alabama’s efforts.
Alabama will now visit No. 19 Missouri on Saturday at noon ET.
