Senior quarterback Kaidon Salter led the Colorado Buffaloes to a 21–3 first-half lead over the Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday at home, making a strong statement in his return to the starting lineup.
In his first start since Week 2 against Delaware, Salter completed 10-of-18 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns before halftime, including big plays to Omarion Miller and Sincere Brown. Running back Simeon Price added a rushing score to cap the first-half surge.
The Buffaloes were coming off a 36-20 road loss at Houston last Friday, a game in which Salter was sidelined in favor of third-string quarterback Ryan Staub. In his last outing — a 31-7 win over Delaware — Salter threw for 102 yards on 13-of-16 passing and added a rushing touchdown in limited action.
Fans were impressed by Salter in his comeback, as he looked like a brand-new quarterback — cool, confident and fully in command of the Colorado offense.
After a scoreless first quarter Saturday, Colorado flipped the switch in the second.
The Buffs opened the quarter with an 85-yard drive capped by a 29-yard touchdown pass from Salter to Miller, giving them a 7-0 lead.
Following a Wyoming field goal, Salter struck again — this time connecting with Brown on a short pass that turned into a 68-yard sprint to the end zone, extending Colorado’s lead to 14-3.
Striking once more before the half, Price punched in a one-yard touchdown run to give Colorado a 21-3 lead at the break.
Colorado will take on BYU next Saturday at home.
