John Cena wants to repay the favor.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event last night, it was announced that a tournament will determine who faces John Cena in his final ever match on December 13, confirming a report last month by Dave Meltzer.
Cena commented on the news on Sunday via social media, writing:
“For over two decades, I have tried to make the most of every opportunity Iâ€ve been presented. On December 13th, Iâ€d like to repay the favor. The Last Time is Now Tournament begins next Monday in Boston!”
In terms of who could come away the winner of the tournament, Meltzer reported that WWE has chosen Gunther as Cenaâ€s final opponent. A title could also be on the line in the match, as Meltzer noted earlier this month that Cena may end up defeating Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental title at Survivor Series in Dominikâ€s hometown of San Diego.
Meltzer wrote:
“The idea of Cena winning the IC title from Dominik (the match right now is at Survivor Series) and it being in play for the final match with Gunther has been discussed.”
