John Cena Acknowledges Absent WWE Star

A missing WWE star acknowledged by John Cena.

2025 will mark the final year John Cena will be in WWE as an active in-ring superstar. With only two months left, he has faced new stars like Logan Paul but also former rivals like CM Punk, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, and more.

The Cenation Leader only has five appearances left before officially retiring, which means there’s also only going to be a limited stars he is set to face. Unfortunately, Kevin Owens won’t be part of this list.

Kevin started his main roster run by answering Cena’s United States Open Challenge, with many considering Owens as the then-US Champion’s toughest and most vicious rival yet, who at the time was still the NXT Champion.

Many hoped to see them clash one final time before John retires, but tragedy struck. In April this year, ahead of WrestleMania 41, Kevin announced that he won’t be able to face Randy Orton for their singles match due to a neck injury, putting uncertainty into his wrestling future.

Despite their in-ring feud, it’s been known that they have a close friendship behind the scenes. Although Kevin Owens won’t be part of John Cena’s Farewell Tour, he still ensured to show his support. In turn, the latter also recognized the former’s gestures.

John Cena’s Response To Kevin Owens Dressing Up As Him

Amidst his WWE absence, Kevin Owens’ wife posted a photo of the WWE star dressed up as John Cena for Halloween. The Prizefighter was complete from the sneakers, denim jorts, wristbands, cap, and shirt. The injured star even ordered coffee as “John.”

In response, The Cenation Leader took to his Instagram and acknowledged his former WWE rival’s actions by posting Kevin’s photo ordering coffee as John. In true Cena fashion, the actual post didn’t have any captions.

John Cena is now set to face AJ Styles at the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel. The former Undisputed Champion‘s final match is set to take place at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, 2025, in Washington, DC.
