Why India Women’s Team Will Wear Pink Jersey Today? The IND W vs AUS W ODI series is set for its deciding day, as both teams will clash on Sunday in Delhi for the series-deciding ODI.
The ongoing three-match India women vs Australia women ODI series is an important precursor to the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, which will take place in India from September 30.
This IND W vs AUS W ODI rubber is currently leveled at 1-1 after two games in Mullanpur. The visitors won the first match by eight wickets, but the hosts bounced back strongly with a massive win in the second ODI by 102 runs, handing Australia women their biggest defeat in WODIs (by margin of runs).
That win over Alyssa Healy’s strong Aussie outfit would have given Harmanpreet Kaur’s team a massive boost heading into the series decider on Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where a healthy crowd is expected to greet the Women In Blue and cheer them on.
However, Kaur’s unit won’t be the Women In Blue today; rather, they will be the Women In Pink. Yes, the Indian women’s team is going to wear pink jerseys for this fixture.
The Indian women’s team will don a special pink jersey in today’s ODI match against Australia as a campaign to promote Breast Cancer Awareness.
The BCCI Women posted a video of Indian women’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, all-rounder Sneh Rana, and top-order batter Pratika Rawal. In the video, the players talked about the fight women lead against breast cancer.
They said, “This pink jersey is the reminder of a bigger fight. This jersey is more than just a symbol. Every day we train for uncertainties and this jersey is a reminder for you to be prepared and the strength for this fight against Breast Cancer comes from early detection.
“It’s a call to build a life-saving habit. Let’s make breast self-examination a monthly routine. Together, let’s fight against Breast Cancer and give ourselves a hug of life and practice a life-saving skill and take a stand against Breast Cancer.”
As part of this Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, the sponsors will be distributing “Thanks a Dot” kits and breast self-exam guidance to 200 women for every 50 dot balls in the IND W vs AUS W 3rd ODI match.
Meanwhile, talented batter Jemimah Rodrigues, who missed the second ODI, will not be available for today’s third ODI as well, as she is recovering from viral fever.
