Ice Cube Speaks to Deion Sanders’ Colorado CFB Team on Video at Practice

Rapper, actor, producer and entrepreneur Ice Cube swung by Colorado’s practice on Tuesday and offered a few encouraging words to Pro Football Hall of Famer (and Buffaloes head coach) Deion Sanders’ football team.

Sanders said he and Ice Cube have known each other since 1989 (when the Atlanta Falcons drafted Sanders) before giving his friend the floor.

“Much love, much respect to everybody out here, man. It’s good to see y’all. I just want to tell you, you know, I’m pretty sure a lot of people come out and talk to y’all. They got a lot to say. You know what? The thing is, you guys got the best of the best. As far as your coaches, you got Hall of Famers. Listen to what they say. Listen to what they say.

“They’re gonna tell you how not only trying to get to the next level, which I’m pretty sure you all are, but also how to be great men in life and get through all these difficult times that you’re gonna face in your life. Listen to that advice. One thing I want to tell you guys, do not complain about what you don’t get because of the work you didn’t put in, OK? Don’t complain about what you didn’t get, because of the work you didn’t put in. So put in the work, and it’ll pay off for you. That’s all I got to say. Love y’all, much respect.”

Ice Cube then broke down the team’s huddle before practice.

Ice Cube is currently on tour, and he has a show in Denver later Tuesday evening. So he swung by Sanders’ practice and said hung out with both Sanders and Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss, who has visited Colorado multiple times this year to help support Sanders and the team.

Sanders’ Buffaloes are off to a tough 1-2 start. Colorado opened the season with a 27-20 home loss before rebounding with a 31-7 win over Delaware. However, Colorado then fell 36-20 last Friday at Houston, who scored 17 unanswered points to begin the second half.

There’s plenty of football left for the Buffaloes, though, beginning on Saturday evening when Colorado hosts Wyoming. The Buffaloes will then play eight straight Big 12 games to close the regular season.
