Oba Femi is a remarkable specimen, and those who run WWE obviously know this.
Fans look at his loss to Ricky Saints at No Mercy as the culmination of a spectacular run in NXT. Speculation has risen that a main roster promotion was imminent. However, recent news has gotten fans thinking that the company could be repackaging the Nigerian.
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that WWE has filed to trademark the name “PJ Vasa,” which got a fan wondering whether this was the name the company was considering for The Destroyer once he moved to the main roster.
They’re changing Oba Femi’s name for the call up?!?!” A fan wondered.
They’re changing Oba Femi’s name for the call up?!?!

In response, several other fans reacted:
Hope not… Oba Femi is unique,” wrote a fan.
“If thatâ€s Obaâ€s new name I might end it all In front of Paul Levesque,” wrote another fan.
“Hoping this isn’t Oba Femi’s new name on main roster,” hoped one more fan.
However, another fan was very confident that the trademark filing didn’t concern the former NXT Champion:
Itâ€s NOT Oba Femi. Stop worrying.”
You can check out some more fan reactions below:
While it is unclear why the fans were worried about whether Oba Femi would be repackaged on WWE’s main roster, his loss to Saints has fueled speculations that he is due for a call-up imminently.
However, at the time of this writing, it isn’t clear for whom the name “PJ Vasa” could be used, and we will update you as we know more.
As confident as a young star can be, Oba Femi boldly stated recently during an appearance on Going Ringside that John Cena and Randy Orton were yesterday’s stars, and that he wanted to retire them.
If I could catch John Cena, I would put him out,†claimed Oba Femi. “Iâ€ll show him–heâ€s on his way out, so watch your step, you know? […]
I would definitely fight Randy [Orton]. Just feel sorry for Randy, his back–Iâ€ll show him the door too. Itâ€s about time. I grew up watching those guys. Theyâ€ve been on top for a really long time and I think enough is enough,†he added.
Be that as it may, the two veterans are highly respected stars and bona fide legends of the business. Meanwhile, Femi turned 27 in May 2025 and has a long way to go.
It remains to be seen when Femi will finally join the main roster. He seems like the kind of athlete who would disrupt the programming when given the opportunity, so what he will do upon debut keeps the interest alive.
